Houseware for caravans, motorhomes and camping covers lightweight tableware and the kit for cooking away from home: melamine dining sets, tumblers, wine and prosecco glasses, mug sets, a cool box, an external thermal blind, portable gas stoves and gas cartridges in multipacks.
Tableware
Melamine and other plastic sets are light to carry and suit travelling. You can serve food on melamine, but do not heat food on it in a microwave: heat it in a dish marked as microwave safe, then serve. Check each set's care instructions before putting it in a dishwasher.
Stoves and gas cartridges
Cartridges come with different connections, including screw-thread valves, bayonet fittings and pierceable cans, and contain butane or a butane and propane mix. Mixes with more propane are made to perform better in cold weather. Use only the cartridge type named in the stove's instructions, as other containers can be dangerous. Non-refillable metal cartridges for portable appliances are made to BS EN 417. Fit or change cartridges outdoors or somewhere well ventilated, away from flames, heat and sparks.
Gas safety
Portable gas stoves are for cooking, not heating, and need good ventilation. Do not use them in a tent, awning, car or any small enclosed space, and never take a barbecue into a caravan or motorhome during or after use, because of the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. If a used caravan has no service records, have its gas installation checked by a Gas Safe registered engineer.
