Bathroom suites bring the main pieces of a bathroom together as a matching set. This category covers WC packs, four-piece packs with a toilet, cistern, basin and pedestal, vanity units with a basin, combined basin and WC furniture, and Doc M packs for accessible toilets.

Types of pack

• WC packs: a pan and cistern, often with a seat, flush fittings and fixings.
• Four-piece packs: a toilet pan, cistern, basin and pedestal, sometimes with a soft close seat. Basins have one tap hole for a mixer or two for separate hot and cold taps.
• Vanity units: a basin on a cabinet or drawer unit, wall hung or floor standing, in widths such as 500mm, 600mm and 750mm. Combination units add a back to wall toilet in the same run of furniture.
• Doc M packs: accessible WC sets laid out to Approved Document M, with grab rails, a raised height pan and rails and seat in contrasting colours. They are aimed at accessible toilets in commercial and public buildings.

Before choosing

Measure the room and note where the soil pipe, waste and water supplies are. Match the toilet outlet to the soil pipe: a horizontal outlet for a pipe through the wall, a bottom outlet for one through the floor. Back to wall toilets need a furniture unit or false wall to hide the cistern. Check what the pack includes, as taps and wastes are often separate. Toilets and basins must drain correctly to the soil and waste system under Part H of the Building Regulations, and flushing cisterns must meet the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999, which limit a single flush to 6 litres.
