Simoniz Glass Mirror Cleaner 500ml, Window Cleaner, Streak Free Spray, Glass Cleaner, Mirror Spray

Car care and valeting covers cleaning, protecting and maintaining cars and vans: shampoos, waterless washes, traffic film removers, polishes, waxes and quick detailers, tyre shine, interior cleaners, wash mitts, clay mitts and microfibre cloths, along with brake fluid, battery chargers, jump starters, mats, seat covers, fuel caps and trim clips.

Washing and protecting

Wash out of direct sunlight, working from the roof down with a car shampoo and a wash mitt, and rinse the mitt often. Do not let shampoo dry on the paint, as it leaves water marks. Polishing restores gloss to dull paint, and a wax or sealant then protects the finish. Microfibre cloths are used for drying and buffing, and dedicated cleaners are made for interiors, glass, tyres and convertible roofs.

Brake fluid

Use the grade given in the vehicle handbook or on the reservoir cap. DOT 3, DOT 4 and DOT 5.1 are glycol based and can be mixed; DOT 5 is silicone based and must not be mixed with them. Glycol fluids absorb moisture from the air, so keep the container tightly closed. Brake fluid damages paintwork, so wipe up any spill at once.

Batteries and accessories

A smart charger adjusts the charge rate as the battery fills, then keep it topped up. Check the charger suits your battery type, such as standard lead acid, calcium, gel, EFB or AGM, and lithium only where stated. Stop-start vehicles need a charger that lists them. Tailored mats are cut for a particular make, model and year, so check the fit before buying, while universal seat covers suit a wider range of seats.

Follow the manufacturer's instructions and safety data for all car care chemicals. For engine oil and other fluids, see oil and fluids; for in-car audio, see audio visual.
